Our wild frontiers week captures the true beauty of winter in a comfortable yet wild setting. With our hearts set on exploring, we will take to the frozen lakes and forests by snowshoe on three extraordinary snowshoeing treks. Learn to mush huskies and dogsled through winter wonderland landscapes. Experience Finnish culture & cuisine on a reindeer farm and savour a week full of laughter as you conquer the snow, one step at a time!

Set inside of Hossa National Park, your headquarters for the week is a rustic style wilderness lodge with all of the modern amenities of today. Accommodation inside of a national park gives us a chance to see northern lights in our backyard! Join in on this one-of-a-kind way to explore the Finnish winter wonderland with the help of our experienced guides.

From Start to Finish: Your snowshoe week adventure

Day 1 - Arrival

Arrive at Kuusamo airport to meet your Guides. Transfer (approx. 1 hour) to accommodation in Hossa. Wilderness Lodge is located along the coast of a remote lake in the heart of the national park. Have a welcoming snack and settle into your new home.

Day 2 - Snowshoeing - INTO THE WILD

Snowshoe right from your front door into the wilderness. After a hearty breakfast and a brief introduction in snowshoe techniques, we will test our snowshoes in the heart of the park. Our first day will take us along the coast of a frozen lake and through the vast forest which covers the park. Lunch will be made outdoors over a campfire. Giving everyone the perfect introduction into the week's agenda we will end the day with a sauna by the lake.

Day 3 - Snowshoeing - Transfer to Värikallio - LORE OF THE NORTH

This day's excursion will be filled with magic from the very beginning! Folklore and tales of the forest's inhabitants will be the theme of the hike as we snowshoe through untouched snow to the ancient rock paintings of Hossa National Park. Lunch will be served over a campfire with tea & coffee brewed Finnishstyle.

Day 4 - Huskies - Transfer to Erä-Susi Huskey Safari - MUSH ON!

It's not every day you get to mush a team of dogs in the wintery taiga landscapes. After a brief introduction and safety lesson, it's time to meet your personal dog team for the day and hit the trail. This 10 km safari will leave you wanting to take home a husky of your own! After the safari, enjoy a warm drink & snacks on the farm before returning home to your cozy cabin in the woods.

Day 5 - Snowshoeing - Transfer to Esker trail - GLACIER WILDLANDS

During our third snowshoe excursion we will walk atop the tall ridges which overlook some of the parks finest landscapes. The national park is ridden with signs of the ice age and today we aim to expose them all. We will explore eskers, kettle holes, and glacial lakes, we might even see some reindeer along the way! Lunch will be served outside of one of the parks many wilderness cabins during our trek.

Day 6 - Optional + Reindeers - CALM VS. COOL

Today's menu starts with a hearty breakfast as usual and then breaks off into two different adventures. For those who want to relax at the lodge, we are holding a morning sauna and a forest bathing session. For those who want to get their adrenaline going, a 3-hour snowmobile safari (Additional cost - €175). In the evening we will be having a farewell dinner, time to meet and then, eat the reindeers! A true Finnish delicacy.

Day 7 - Departure

It's time to say farewell. Let's enjoy our last breakfast together and begin our transfer to Kuusamo airport.
